Sarah Reed, General Counsel
Charles River Ventures

Sarah Reed of Charles River Ventures is an Executive Committee member of First Growth Venture Network
Sarah rejoined CRV in 2009 as general counsel. Most recently, she was with Lowenstein Sandler PC working in the Tech Group where she focused her practice on venture and private equity funds. Sarah previously spent seven years with CRV as general counsel from 2000 to 2007. She is a recognized expert on legal aspects of venture capital financings. In addition to publishing or contributing to articles in business periodicals such as Business Law Today, Venture Capital Review and The Boston Business Journal, she is a frequent lecturer at national industry forums, continuing legal education programs and leading business and law schools. In addition, Sarah is the founding chairperson of an industry-wide, NVCA-endorsed initiative to create model venture financing legal documents. For her work in this area, the NVCA awarded Sarah with its Outstanding Contribution to the Venture Industry Award at its 2007 Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.
Prior to 2000, Sarah was general counsel at Palomar Medical Technologies, Inc., a Nasdaq-listed laser medical device manufacturer. Prior to Palomar, she worked with the Boston firm of Foley, Hoag & Eliot LLP where she covered a variety of areas including venture capital financings, private placements, IPO’s and SEC reporting, as well as commercial litigation.
Sarah earned her BA from Harvard College in East Asian studies (she is fluent in Mandarin Chinese) and her JD from Harvard Law School, both cum laude.
